Whirlpool Parts

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

Whirlpool PartsWhirlpool appliances have been known for their quality and reliability for many years. In fact, Whirlpool is one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the world. They manufacture top and front load washers, gas and electric dryers, side by side and top mount refrigerators, a variety of built-in ovens and cooktops and free standing ranges, as well as a multitude of other appliances. Whirlpool Corporation was founded in 1911 and is quickly approaching their 100 years anniversary.

Although being reliable, Whirlpool appliances do break down occasionally. Usually it’s something basic and requires a small inexpensive replacement part like an oven igniter. Sometimes a more complicated component is at fault, such as an oven control board or a dishwasher pump and motor assembly. Whatever the case may be, it is essential that original Whirlpool parts are used for the repair. Whirlpool parts are made with the same high quality as their appliances and will help ensure that your appliance lasts longer. It is easy to identify if a part is a genuine Whirlpool replacement part. The part packaging will usually have FSP (“Factory Service Part”) on it in big letters followed by “Appliance Care Products by Whirlpool Corporation”. It may also say “Genuine Whirlpool Quality” on the packaging. So the next time you need to purchase parts for your Whirlpool appliance, make sure they’re Whirlpool parts.

A couple ways to check for a faulty bake element:

  1. You could see if there is any visible body damage. If the element has burn marks on the body, it’s probably needs to be replaced.
  2. Another way is to check the bake element for continuity. You could check for continuity with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter shows no resistance, the bake element needs to be replaced. Note: Always unplug the appliance before performing this check.

  1. You can see if the element is bad just by looking at the body. If you see burn marks, it probably needs to be replaced.
  2. Checking for continuity will assure you whether the bake element is bad or not. To do that, you would need to use an ohmmeter (always unplug the appliance you’re working with before testing with an ohmmeter). If the ohmmeter shows zero ohms, the bake element needs to be replaced.
