I have an old Pryne bathroom fan. When I turn it
on, the fab blade won’t move. It is trying to.
I get a buzzing sound. I removed it and oiled/cleaned. When I put it back in, it runs but
when I come back to reuse it, I get the buzzing
sound. Have been able to push the blade and get it moving, but it is tiresome and a little dangerous.

I have a GE dish washer (model # GSD4200J00BB). It was in a house when we bought it. the house was new but had been on the market for about 9 mos. we have been in the house just under a year (11 mos almost to the day). about a week ago, it started leaking out of the door. I checked the sump and it wasn’t clogged. the sink drain works properly, and I disconnected the drain hose and cycled the dishwasher so that it would drain into a bucket that I had and that seemed to work too.

I am at a loss, not sure what to do next. any help would be greatly appreciated. the 1 year warranty is gone on it because it was purchased and then not used.

I have 2 appliances that have not been as great as the consumer review claimed. I have a Kenmore front load washer that after 3 years, makes my laundry room smell like rotten eggs. The cloth do not come out so fresh and clean either. Have tried bleach, but after many tries with this used Affresh washer tablets-3 in one cycle. The washer still smells awful. Thinking about replacing this expensive washer with a topload cheap model.

I also have a Bosch dishwasher that was claimed to be the best and I now often ties have to rewash by hand as the dishes smell like a wet dog. I’ve had repairmen and plumbers in to investigate with no answers.Again thinking about replacing with a less expensive model.

Maybe it’s bad luck but these purchases were expensive and very disappointing. Have been using appliances for many years and I think they really do not make them like they used to.

I think my Maytag Performa (model #PYE4500AYW) might be on its last legs. For over a year, it would squeak a little, but not all the time. Now, when you turn it on, it squeaks/squeals all the time, sometimes very noisily. I’m afraid it might be bearings. Is there any hope? Could it possibly be a belt? Do I just use it until it dies, and if so, how long does it have to live?

  12. Jeff Says:

I have a Frigidaire smooth glass cooktop, model# FEC36S8HSA. The inner ring of the back left “expandable” cooking element recently stopped heating. What’s the likely source of the problem?

  18. Allison Kuhse Says:

I have a Whirlpool over the stove/ hood combo model# mh1170xss-0. It’s only 3 years old. Last weekend it stopped heating, no humming or buzzing, it just wouldnt heat. So I had the megatron replaced. It worked fine but 2 days later it’s not heating again. I can get the part replaced for free but I am worried that it’ll just happen again (maybe another part is making this part stop working over and over again). Is it maybe the transformer? Should I just trash the darn thing? It retails for $330 and I’ve already put $100 into trying to get it fixed the last time….Thanks

Does the igniter on the Kenmore Elite (911.33203101) gas cooktop screw out or just pull off?

  24. appliancejournal Says:

This igniter is not threaded. Remove the burner cap and head first to gain access to the igniter. Be careful not to damage the gas tube.

I have a GE spacemaker JVM1631wb004 mircowave, all of a sudden had 4 long beep and then had a F3 message. And none of the key pad is working. I had unplugged it and open the control panel and kinda made sure everything is fastened, but only the vent button is working all the other buttons are still not working. Do I need to change the panel and is this a pretty easy replacement if I buy the panel?

    Thanks.

  29. Tracy Daniels Says:

I have done a lot of reading on smelly front load washing machines. I have a Frigidaire and have had the same problem. After reading for 2 hours found that a lot of the smell has to do with liquid detergent being used. It causes a build up between the 2 drums and also on the rubber boot between the drum and door. I pulled the boot out and cleaned it really good and used pipe cleaners to clean the small drain holes also. Putting the spring back on the boot has proved to be a really tough job, but I am determined to do it without tearing it down. But back to the detergent. The large majority say if you switch to powder HE detergent the problem should go away. I went to Kroger and found tide HE powder detergent. This was the only brand that had powder in HE and it was of course not the small box. Good luck.

  30. Tracy Daniels Says:

I also pulled the rubber boot off of the drain pump and there is a filter in there to keep items from tearing up your drain pump. I found a cloth detergent\softner sheet that they have come out with in the filter and the water stunk horribly. I think most front washers have a kick panel on bottom front which is easy to get off. Please check your filter because I bet you have at least one item in it. You should Google smelly front load washer and you will be amazed at the responses on there. I read for one and a half hours.

About 4 years ago, the defrost heater went on my Maytag fridge. I had replaced it and it was working fine. However, it appears that the defrost heater is broken again. I will be replacing it but can anyone tell me if there is a reason why I keep needing to replace it? Can the defrost thermostat be faulty? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I have a Whirlpool Dryer and it doesnt dry as fast as it used to. I have cleaned vent system from roof to internal blower and it blows fine. I have tested for continuity on sensors and element and all is good. model LEQ9508PW0. It has 5 drying temps and it does dry. what controls temp settings or what can be wrong?

  36. Tina P. Says:

I have a Bosch SHE44CO6UC Dishwasher, which started timing out and not heating the water adequately. I have home-owner warranty and they dispatched SEARS repair service. It took two techs to figure out I needed a new control panel. The control panel was replaced, however, the indicator for SANITIZED no longer lights up at the end of the regular wash program like it did before the repair. The next tech said I need to run my kitchen faucet until the water runs hot before starting a load. Makes no sense to me since I didn’t have that issue before the repair. My dishes were sanitized after the Regular and Pot Scrubber Program w/o running my faucet. I don’t think the tech knows what she is talking about. Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated.
