Whirlpool Dryer Thermal Fuse (3390719)
Mon, Jan 15, 2007
This is a very common Whirlpool thermal fuse replacement used on most Whirlpool and Kenmore dryers. It is a disposable, one time use thermal fuse with 2 terminals and is located on the exhaust duct. To see if the thermal fuse went bad, you would need to check for continuity with an ohmmeter. Always make sure to unplug any appliance when checking for continuity. If there is no resistance, the thermal fuse is bad and needs to be replaced.
This thermal fuse will fit most Whirlpool and Kenmore made dryers. Made by Whirlpool. Part Number: 3390719.

We have had to replace our thermal fuse for our 2004 whirlpool gas dryer twice. What is causing this to blow? Could there be a problem with the gas dryer? Possible fire? Do we just continue replacing the fuse or should we report this problem to Whirlpool? Please repsond ASAP

Having too much lint will overheat your dryer and trip the fuse.
First thing I would do is make sure the dryer vent is clean and clear of lint. Check the whole vent - from the blower wheel to where the pipe comes out of the back of the dryer, including the lint screen and lint screen chute. Check the hose outside of the dryer as well.

Just replaced the thermal fuse after disconecting it and splicing the wires together. (This by-passes the thermal fuse), this worked for over 2 years. I just had to replace one of the thermal senors and figured it was time to replace the thermal fuse. Unfortunitly I forgot where the red wire goes and were the blue wire goes, does it matter? Please help, thanks.

Can a thermal fuse be “sorta” bad? To be more specific could it cause a voltage drop across it and not allow the dryer to heat up, or is a part thats either good or bad?

Don, the answer is no. Thermal fuse breaks when it gets above certain temperature. Till that happens, it should be passing consistent amount of juice.

Hello,
I have a GE electic dryer has worked excellent for the last 3 years. Used it a few days ago and worked fine. Today went in and put some cloths in the dryer and it would not do anything. The only thing that works is the light inside the dryer. None of the panel lightd work. So unplugged it and let it set about 5 hrs went in and plugged up and it started working.. Worked about 5 minutes and again nothing works. I am a single mom raising a son with Cerebal Palsy {wheelchair bound}. Can you please give me a thought as to what is wrong.God Bless
Thank You
Joanna
