Whirlpool Dryer Flame Sensor (338906)
Fri, Dec 1, 2006
When a Whirlpool dryer doesn’t heat, one of the few things that could be wrong with it is a bad flame sensor. The flame sensor’s job is to sense the temperature of the dryer igniter. As soon as the igniter reaches a certain temperature, the flame sensor opens the gas valve which then causes the igniter to ignite. If the flame sensor is broken, the gas valve will not open.
The only way to really test the flame sensor is to check for continuity. You could do that by using an ohmmeter. Always unplug the dryer when doing this.
This flame sensor works on most Whirlpool and Kenmore gas dryers. Made by Whirlpool. Part Number: 338906.
