Dryer not heating?

The following youtube video from user pojhmongyang gives a good demonstration on how to determine if your dryer thermostats are working properly. Pay close attention to the safety precautions in the beginning of the video. Comment below on your experience with this.

The dryer that come with the house we bought is at least 10 years old. It is Model LD6882, Series 05, Serial No. 478436 VR.
It was set on “auto dry regular fabrics”, on a setting which usually runs for approximately 30 minutes. When I went to get the dry clothes, (admittedly about 20 minutes late) it was still
running and extremely hot to exterior touch. I shut it off manually immediately. I felt it could have caused a fire if I had not looked at it when I did. Is it worth repairing? If so, can you give me an estimate of the cost by a Maytag dealer? Thanks.
P.S. How old is it??????
