Whirlpool Duet GHW9400P Front Load Washer Review

Appliance Reviews

Whirlpool Duet Washer GHW9400PWhen the first Whirlpool Duet washer was introduced back in December, 2001, it took the public by surprise. On one hand its modern design and front load style was a big plus, on the other hand though, the set retail price came as somewhat of a shock to a lot of people -

$1,200 and up for some of the models. After the initial shock began to wear off and people got used to the idea of paying $2,000 for a laundry set, the new Duet washer proved to be a solid, quality machine and a big success with the public.

As with most front load washers, there is the occasional problem with the “bellow” - the rubber boot between the front of the washer and the tub. But, with proper maintenance this problem can be overted. *UPDATE* There is a new product on the market called Affresh. It prevents odor causing residue, works much better than bleach and keeps your HE washer clean. See product details and purchasing info here. Download a Use and Care manual for your washer for instructions.

Every washer model, good or bad, has a list of components that fail most often. It doesn’t mean that your washer will break down tomorrow and statistically it probably won’t break down for a long long time. But if or when it does break down, chances are the faulty part will be on the list below.

THE LIST (or “What’s causing my Duet washer’s headache”)

  • Well, we’ve mentioned the bellow, which you may have to replace once every few years.
  • Water drain pump - might get clogged. Simple and inexpensive repair.
  • Inlet water valve. What is a valve? A plastic body and a couple of solenoids. Solenoids go bad after a while, it’s that simple.
  • Door lock. Somewhat of a fragile item and can break if not careful.
  • Electronics - main control board, speed control, etc. With electronics, you never really know. It may fry tomorrow or last for 20 years. A good precaution is to use a surge protector for the washing machine.
  • All above are what is called “functional items”. There are also cosmetical items that usually break due to improper or heavy use. Items like door handles, door frames, control knobs, door hinges, etc.

- Installation Guide

All in all, Whirlpool Duet is a good quality washing machine. Quiet operation, high capacity, lots of options, powerful motor. If it does break down, make sure to use high quality original Whirlpool parts.

I want a manual to the first whirlpool duet washer that came out. I have lost my manual and need another one for understanding of different codes.

  2. appliancejournal Says:

Charlena, visit our Appliance Manuals section (http://www.appliancejournal.com/appliance-manuals), click on Whirlpool and enter your washer model number to download the Use and Care manual for your Duet washer.

I have just bought a duet set and am not happy at all.The washer shakes the whole house. and is not quiet
we have had 2 repairman and they say it is normal.I don’t believe them. I have a 3rd coming on Saturday.

  4. Fary Koh Says:

Our duet set was a terible BUY! We have the repairman come out fours times … our clothes get eaten and torn apart. The washer shakes the whole house too.

Our duet set was a terible BUY! We have the repairman come out fours times … our clothes get eaten and torn apart. The washer rocks the house…

  6. JLEE Says:

Bought the washer 20 months ago to rave reviews by consumer reports. It comes with a 1 year warranty. 8 months after the warranty we have the F6 error where the Motor Control Unit does not communicate with the motor tachometer which prevents the unit from completing a full cycle. We should have purchased an extended warranty! *sigh*. Anyhow, the repair, would be $223.18 for the MCU and $147 in labor for a total of $370!!!! half the price of the unit.

    It’s a crime.

Washer works great when it works … *sigh*

Looking into buying the part myself and trying to install it ($150 for the part over the internet)

  7. Lisa Says:

bought the washer/dryer 3 years ago. never had problems….do about 6-8 loads per week. have small odor problem but when I started leaving door open, odor “almost” went away. going to start using affresh tablets after a lot of research, and using vinegar as fabric softener, also going to switch to powdered HE detergent instead of liquid. but never had machine eat my clothes or other mechanical problems. bought GE for the last 20 years and always liked their service…..maybe I’m lucky seeing what others have written!

  8. Cindy Wallwork Says:

I have a duet frontload washing machine. The door is locked and I can’t remember how to unlock it. I seem to remember it happening once before and it unlocked when I pushed a series of buttons at the same time. Does anyone know which buttons I need to push?

    Thanks!! Cindy

  9. David Says:

my duet shakes the whole house when in the spin cycle. what can I do to solve the problem. I don’t want to return it and I have tried several times to level it, but to no evale. Please help!

  10. Savitri Says:

Hi! I’d love to get JLEE’s contact info.
    We have the same issue.
Tried buying the MCU from an online vendor but after 3 shipments, the part is not correct. Later we found that it’s not the store’s fault but Whirlpool’s. The part listed online is not what’s in the box at the warehouse. It seems like WP made a huge mistake. We’re waiting for Sears to give us our MCU but we believe it’ll still be the wrong one. We looked it up online, on Sear’s parts website, and the MCU box/item number is the same as what we’ve been getting.

I looked at JLEE’s site but it’s a company site. So if I can either get JLEE’s email or if you forward mine to JLEE that’d be so so great. I just want to know if he/she fixed the issue and where the part was from.

    Thanks!!!

  11. Luis Says:

I have a duet frontload washer. I moved last week, had a little accident with it and the window in the door broke. I bought it used, and don’t know what model it is, but it’s kind of old. Please let me know if you have an idea where I can buy it from.

  12. HG Says:

I have a duet washer that is 2 years old and started to shake violently. Had a certified repairman out and the rear bearing is shot. I only run the washer 2-3 times per week. This seems to be common with this model after checking feedback on the web. $400 in parts and $200 in labor. Would not recommend this washer to anyone.

  13. RGK Says:

Ditto all of these problems, and the front door leaks. Repair Co. has come out 4 times replacing parts, now it usually only leaks on the sanitary setting.

  14. Richard Buck Says:

For Cindy Wallwork: Pull off the front cover below the door (three screws). Reach up inside the corner under the door lock. You will feel a sort of rounded little item. You pull down on it and it unlocks the door, but you have other problems (electronic ones). Unplug it for awhile (ours takes a day). Plug it back and it should work.

  15. Terry Doffe Says:

I used my friend’s whirlpool duet washer in rinse and spin cycle for one cotton towel-type bath mat. At the end of the cycle it was still sopping wer. I thind that the front load type washers just don’t generate the centrifugal force necessary to do the job.

  16. Marian Moon Says:

I have the Whirlpool Duet. During the “Sanitary” cycle, the seal ripped apart. It was replaced but everytime I use this cycle, the seal comes loose. I’m not sure if the seal was improperly set or there is another problem.

  17. Julie Says:

Purchased the Whirlpool Duet Wahser 07/08. By Sept. calling the service tech, shakes violently even when perfectly level. They have been out 8 times, replacing 2 parts, including the “bellow”. Still shakes violently. Cannot get Whirlpool to replace the product even though it’s under mfg. warrany. Have written letters to Whirlpool and made 50 phone calls. The service tech has told Whirlpool the washer is not repairable, they still refuse. Want him to install a “vibration kit”. As of March 2009 I am still fighting with Whirlpool as is the service company. I would not ever recommend a Whirlpool product to anyone. A company that cannot stand behind it’s warranty or product does not deserve my business. My next step is to file a complaint with BBB, possibly file a lawsuit and post a video on YouTube!

  18. G.Ealey Says:

Yes I Bought the Whirlpool GHW9100CW1 Duet. Now 4years Later It STOP . Call Repair man ,Water pump, needs new Drum rollers to,My Old Washer Run For over 16 years ,sold it and got duet .whirlpool needs to !TEST! in the home befor sales Think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Georgia Says:

I’ve had this model for two years and love it. I do huge loads and small loads in it, never had any problems. After I’m done with washing I leave the door ajar till the next morning and I’ve never had a problem with odor or mildew. My water bills are dramatically down too, I can’t tell you how happy I am with this washer!

  20. Dave McNamara Says:

My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool Duet Sport front end loader back in April of 07. The washer worked impressively up until today.
Machine gave a loud, rubbing kind of sound while in high spin cycle and now have water leaking out of machine all over basement floor.
    Model number WFW8500SR00.
Do have some black stains on rubber seal at door since kids don’t leave it open after taking load out. Also learned that the slide in soap dispenser tray needs to be removed when not in use. Otherwise trapped water creates mold in this area as well.
Scared to hear what the repairman is going to say!

  21. Daryn Says:

I’ve been told now that my rear bearing is out after having my Duet HT WFW8400T for two years…did EVERYTHING the manual and internet said for maintaining, cleaning, detergent, placement, the unit looks showroom floor new (as commented by my last repairman)…did not buy and extended warranty so am now screwed. My old washer I bought at a garage sale, it was 10 years old when I bought it, paid $50 and it lasted me 6 years before the timer went out and had the money for an “upgrade” so I bought the Duet. Some upgrade…no wonder the economy is in the crapper…companies can dish out crap appliances at a significant cost with what appears to be no consciousness of quality and product endurance for economic value.

  22. Brenda Says:

Bought a whirlpool front load washer/dryer and am very disappointed w/it. If the door is closed tight and/or after washing a load of clothes is smells musty, when on rinse/spin cycle it is so…. Noisy, the valve stuck open when the machine was not in use but door was open to keep it from smelling and had water all over floor (was out of town over the wknd when this happened) and also have had to throw away clothes as they’ve had grease stains on them and you can’t get them out. For the price you have to pay for these, I would NOT encourage you to purchase one.

  23. Acie Workman Says:

I cannot understand why the shaft that runs the impeller on pump that pumps out the water on my Duet frount loader washing machine was so cheaply made.It is made out of pot metal and broke. I had to get a repairman to replace the whole pump. A very cheaply made part for a washer that costs over $1000.

  24. Sean Brant Says:

Our Duet washer is dumping allot of water into the drum right at the end of the wash cycle (after the fast spinning). It is like it forgot what it is doing. Now the clothes are soaking wet when the cycle is done. We are hand wringing them out before throwing them into the dryer. The unit is 3.5 years old and this is the first real problem we have had with it. Sometimes socks get stuck behind the bellow and they reek to high heaven. If you close the door after washing, the next load is pretty musty. You have to leave the washer door open to let the inside of the machine dry out (if you are not going to immediately start another load). I wouldn’t buy one again.

  25. pat Says:

Bought the duets and they are terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The washer stinks terribly and water just started gushing out the door all over the floor. It shakes my entire house……..

The dryer screen is cleaned in between every load and it still gets clogged at the exterior vent. This product is the worst ever, it plain out sucks.

Whirlpool doesn’t give a damn either. Their customer care department just kept rerouting me. I called the retailer and they sent me to a service contractor.

I then spoke with the Whirlpool manufacturers rep for the retailer and he told be I was out of luck. These are 3 years old that is crap to have this many problems.

  26. lsg Says:

15 repairmen, 3 New tubs, almost all the parts replaced and the tub which has lasted one month has to be replaced again. Back ordered part requiring me to go to the laudry mat for over 2 months. This Whirlpool Duet Washer is a piece of junk. Buyer Beware

  27. Terry Doffe Says:

Whirlpool needs to be taught a lesson in customer service . A lesson such as Dave Carrol taught United Airlines when he posted a vieio on Youtube and sang :”UNITED BREAKS GUITARS”

  28. crystal Says:

We have a Whirlpool front end loader and want to know if anyone out there notices that there is not enough water being put in to really wash the load ? I mean we know it is energy efficient but it seems barely wet. Have looked at all possibiltities too.

  29. Donna Says:

Have the Whirlpool Duet steam washer. Loved it until F35 code came on. Washer is still under warranty. Called for warranty repair through whirlpool and they set up appointment for A&E Factory Service to come and repair. They said someone had to be available from 8A to 5P on day they were to come. Couldn’t give an approx time they could come look. The A&E man called at 3PM and said the problem was a pressure sensor he would order the part and have delivered to my house, when part came call and they would set up another appointment to have someone come fix. (The A&E man never even came and looked at washer) Called to make sure part was ordered and was told it was then 30 minutes later A&E called and said part was on back order wouldn’t be available until sometime in August. Been month now without washer and will be another month before it is fixed at the minimum. If you look on other websites this is an ongoing problem with these washers. Whirlpool needs to recall washers or make a replacement part that will work and is readily available.

  30. jo Says:

to donna…i had the same problem with my Whirlpool Duet Steam washer — F35. Unfortunately my warranty expired 3 weeks prior, so, instead of calling for repair I researched the problem myself by viewing different sites on the internet and came to the conclusion that the analog pressure sensor switch was bad. I searched practically every whirlpool parts store listed and none had the part in stock, all had to be backordered from the factory with a delivery date no sooner than August 9. Then, after waiting a few days I decided to try to search some more and was able to find ONE dealer in alabama who actually had the part in stock and shipped it out that same day and it arrived today (only 2 days later). My husband snapped the old part out and snapped the new one in and my washer is up and running again. I agree with you, this is an ongoing problem with these washers and Whirlpool needs to address this. I intend to sit down and write a letter to Whirlpool expressing how I feel. It’s bad enough that I’ve had this machine less than 13 months and it breaks down, but then I find out that absolutely no one keeps this part in stock and it will take 3-4 weeks to get it. I just got lucky finding one after a week of searching. Oh, and it literally took 5 minutes to replace. You wait 3-4 weeks for the part for a 5-minute repair.

  31. Stefanie Says:

    ABOUT THE DUET:
If you are having problems with the door gasket (rubber seal) ripping or leaking because of a hole, PLEASE contact Whirlpool and file a complaint. I am trying to get a recall issued on this part since it seems that lots of people are replacing it (and it’s $115 + installation)

    Whirlpool’s Number: 1.866.698.2538

You will need the MODEL and SERIAL numbers.
    My Model # is GHW9150PW0
It was purchased at Sears in 2005

  32. Ryan Says:

Does anyone have the exact part number for the pressure switch needed to fix the F35 error?

    Thanks!!!

  33. Kimmyann12 Says:

My repairman had to factory order the board for the bad pressure switch and I am being charged over 500 dollars for just the part due to an f35 error code. Its outrageous! The washer is only 18 months old.

  34. Anne rogan Says:

My Duets are four years old. My washing machine flashes “F” and “H” and won’t complete the cycle. I have to cancel the cycle and start over with “Drain/Spin” to finish washing my clothes. I gave away an old matching 20-yr. old set which did a wonderful job but was ugly and not energy-efficient. Not only that, all the parts in the machines were stainless steel and metal working parts, not the crap plastic that these machines are made of. I wish I never would have given away my old ugly set. Can anyone tell me how to fix my problem ….maybe if I unplugged it for a day and plugged it in again??

  35. Christie Says:

I will NEVER buy a whirlpool product again ever!!!! Errors, bearings blasting apart, we won’t even touch the noise issue. Garbage.

  36. crystal Says:

My advice to everyone is to go back to the old manual top loader type like we did. NO PROBLEMS. We got rid of out Duets and never regretted it a second. Crystal

  37. John I Says:

This wash machine is the biggest piece of juck I have ever purchased and am not satisfied at all the whirlpool duet has been nothing but repairs and a money pit. they claim it to be so good and to save you money ? try the other way around 2 monthes after the warranty and the trouble have not stopped never again will i purchase a whirlpool ever

  38. Pat Says:

I would like to thank all of you who have taken the time to post your issues with the Whirlpool washers. I’m in the market to buy a new washer and dryer, and because of all your feedback, I will not even consider Whirlpool. I also have a friend who has a Whirlpool that is fairly new and he is experiencing the same problems everyone else on this website is having. Crummy product and even crummier service. Thanks to all of you and good luck!

  39. Trish Says:

So….I have to say….I ABSOLUTELY and POSITIVELY HATE my whirlpool duet washer and dryer. I had wonderful OLD GE set and was convinced to get the Duets. Not only do I have a constant massive mold issue even though I do the monthly maintenance…but I have noticed tiny holes in a lot of shirts. SOme of them relatively new and I NEVER and I repeat NEVER got holes in shirts from my other machines. I have even purchased the tablets that WHirlpool told me to to get rid of the mold and SHOCKER…it didn’t work!! Needless to say…I am not very happy with my machines:-)

  40. larrie Says:

Whirlpool Duet Washer, 17 months, stops, displays S 70 or S71 code. washer has to be set to spin, drain per manual to complete wash? anybody had this problem or fix?

  41. larrie Says:

Whirlpool Duet Washer, wont spin out, stops and displays S70 or S71 code?

  42. Rob Says:

One more bad thing about the Duet (and some other brand front-loaders): there is a design flaw whereby disimilar metals betwen the the tub and its support arms causes galvanic corrosion to take place and the support arms literally disintegrate. This causes the tub to wobble and eventually separate from the support. It took 6 years until my machine self destructed. The tub is guaranteed for lifetime, but this is a major repair requiring complete teardown of machine, and labor is not included. I’ve had similar problems as above. For the price of repair i think I may buy a new top load machine.

  43. Alex Says:

Thanks for saving me from buying a piece of feces machine, I will look into other brands, any good recomendations?

    Thanks
    Alex

  44. Katie Says:

We purchased the Duet just three months ago. To anyone out there who hasn’t made the purchase yet, you are a very lucky individual to have found this site. The overwhelming negative comments posted here are NOT an exaggeration by any means. Unless you want to bring a horrendous stink into your home, don’t mind leaving your home during spin cycles, and love playing the untwist the clothes game on a regular basis…. then the duet is not your bag. To those of you who regret your duet purchase, apparently you’re not alone.

  45. Darin Says:

Does anyone have the exact part number for the pressure switch needed to fix the F35 error?

    Thanks!!!”

Ryan….the part # is W10156252…this is the Analog Pressure Switch that could be causing the F35 error..( usually causes a Sud error as well)….good luck ):
    Darin

  46. Martin Says:

I recommend for future purchasers not to buy the whirlpol Duet 9400. I have the same issues as other comments above. Now I have an F 32 code issue and what I understand from research, it could be many things. I sold my old washers because of the hype of the DUETS. So much for water and energy conservation when I have to spend so much on repair.

  47. southflorida Says:

Takes forever to “balance” out and spin at the end of the cycle. Very temperamental about getting up to speed. It will try and try to spin at least 5 or 6 times, stopping to juggle the clothes and begin to spin again. Pain in the ass takes forever to finish the cycle.

  48. Rhonda Says:

STONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU CONSIDER OTHER WASHERS!

Our unit is exactly two years old. After one week, the electronic panels went out. No power surge, just up and died. Whirlpool repaired the machine and we put it on a surge protector to be safe. Two weeks later, same problem. Lowe’s replaced the machine.

A year after the machine was replaced, we had more problems with the electrical panels. Whirlpool refused to fix it. So, I put up a big stink with the Ohio Atty. General. Only then did Whirlpool fix it. Cost was $1200 (nearly $250 more than a new model).

Here we are one year after that repair and now we are getting F35 codes. More repairs. I am seriously thinking about a class action lawsuit.

Also, a heads-up: This machine twists and rips our clothes - especially our sheets.

  49. Rob Says:

As a follow up to my Nov 9, 2009 post: I found a repair manual online and disassembled my machine. It is fairly straight forward following the procedure, and the machine is easily servicable, but then again I am an engineer. I was able to get an authorized whirlpool repairman to come and verify the defective part, the basket, which is lifetime guaranteed, and also the outer tub which was damaged and has a 10 year warranty. Called whirlpool and they will honor the warrantee. The basket arrived at my home today, hopefully the outer tub will come. So for $90 service call and a couple hours work I will be able to get my machine up and running again for a few more years myself. The repair service told me they would not even attempt to do this repair as practically the whole machine needs to be torn down. And now that I see where the musty smell comes from I can take care of that too.

  50. R'skey Says:

Hey rob where is the smell coming from.
Not even a year I have had the Whirlpool duet, and from all the research I’ve been doing sounds like the water pump is gone, it is not putting any water into it and I was wondering where all the little holes in my shirts were coming from. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

  51. Darryl Says:

    For Rob,

What type of sound was you machine making before you repaired it. My Duet washer makes an awful clunking and rubbing sound during the extraction an dspin cycles. The sound is most pronounced as the tub begins to start spinning, then fades out and returns throughout the cycle. Reading your replies and others makes me think I have a similar problem.

Also, where did you find the repair manual online?

    Thank you.

  52. Carla Jennings Says:

My Whirlpool Duet has sucked since day 1. Where do I start should it be with the awful noise and vibration, which ended up causing the plastic piece around the tub just under the bellow; to break leading to the bellow getting two significant slits in it so that I could have water leaking out into my floor(repair cost right at 400.00). Or maybe I should warn u about the vibration being so bad that it has busted 2 control knobs(18.59 + tax.[x2]..) and made a 4″ crack along the control panel(haven’t repaired)…then there is always the thrill of finding your pants/jeans tangled into oblivion or your new clothes coming fresh out of the first wash to have holes and look like they are ancient and worn out, not to mention the panties, socks, and tanks that end up missing in action.(the machine was totally disassembled and only one sock was found in it, so where did they go Whirlpool???)… oh wait I forgot the odor, I’m talking odor that smells worse than raw sewage…all this wrapped into a nice neat little Whirlpool bundle(cost 1100.00+) that they refuse to service or acknowledge any fault on their part. Well Whirlpool at least one thing was free your total disregard for the consumers that keep your @ss making money and your lack of customer service.

  53. Rob Says:

R’sky: the musty smell comes from the fact that there is always water trapped in the drain pump at the bottom of the tub (it is designed this way) and if you close the door then there is always humidity inside the machine, and mold will grow. Once there is mold, if you don’t empty a load promptly, it will get into the clothes. The rubber seal around the door is also a good moisture trap. What I did was give the seal a good cleaning with a toothbrush and Clorox (I had removed it from the machine) Now I try to empty the clothes as soon as possible, and the best thing is to leave the door open when not in use. I plan to once in a while run some Clorox or vinegar through to clean it out. As for holes in my clothes I never had that problem. I also run smaller loads now.

  54. Rob Says:

Darryl - sounds like you have the same problem I did, and if you’ve been using your machine it has probably destroyed itself by now. If not, and you want to repair it, stop using the washer now. You can find a manual at Fixitnow.com / ApplianceGuru.com. (you may have to dig around for it, the manual I found was for a Duet Sport washer) I also had to replace the drain pump because it was ruined after chunks of plastic from the tub went through it. I use Repairclinic.com for parts. Good Luck

  55. Andrea Says:

Whirlpool duet Front loader- The worst purchase I’ve ever made. Bought 3 years ago, shakes all over the place during spin cycle and consistently displays F11 and Dl codes. From what I have read, I am not alone. This washer is a lemon and I would encourage everyone to tell anyone they know not to buy a Whirlpool. Maybe they will go out of business and think again about taking advantage of the consumer.

  56. Stephen Says:

Wife and I purchased our DUET set in the fall of 2002. We raised 2 teenagers with this set, washing 4 or 8 loads of laundry a week, for more than 7 years. Excellent washer and drier; the best we have ever owned. We have started to get the “FH” error code. I went to ‘repairclinic.com’ and ordered the repair manual. The unit passes all diagnostics tests. I suspect that either the pressure switch or an electrical connect to be the problem.

  57. Keith Says:

We bought the Whirlpool Duet 4 1/2 years ago and I can vouch for the fact that ALL of these negative comments above are 100% true.

Here are the issues we had with out $1,100 washer (one of the most expensive at the time):

    1) Door handle broke off after 5 months of use. Not under warrenty, spent $40.00 on a new one. That one broke 4-5 months later. They have 2 screws that keep it in place that ends up creating a huge pressure point and snapping it. Last 3 years we have had to slide our fingers between door and unit and open that way (slightly painful)

    2) Selector knob broke off after about a year. Like the handle I went and ordered a new one. $30.00 and about 6 months later that one broke. You put a lot of pressure on a thin plastic peice to turn your knob. Now wife uses a sock to ‘pinch’ the rod to select her wash cycle. Again, kind of hard to do but she got by.

    3) SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE / BANG BANG BANG / WALK WALK WALK - that is the normal cycle. we have balanced the machine ourselves, paid TWICE to have someone else come do it, doesn’t matter. Also on a second floor so we put huge support boards in basement below, $30.00 of lumber. Did nothing. Machine literally walks about 2-3 feet per wash, needs pushed back into place after each cycle. My wife is not strong enough to do this (machine weights a lot) so she can ony do one load unless I am around. wow, this is a huge inconvience. I went on a business trip once for 4 days and she had to have the neighbor come over 3 times to move machine back

    5) RIPPED CLOTHES - we have lost NUMEROUS articles of clothing due to small tears and rips

    4) FINALLY the bellows rubber peice cracked after 4 years. would of been $300.00 to fix. that was the last straw. I sealed it with rubber and rubber cement but could only do cold cycles for about 3-4 months. finally dumped the machine.

    total impact:
3 + years of painful washing (no knobs, door handles)
$ 420.00 estimated payments to fix machine (knobs, door handles, balancing) and that is WITHOUT paying to fix ripped bellows
~$300.00 of lost clothing. one example - bought my wife a sweatshirt she had wanted for 2-3 years, $60.00 Champion from her college - ripped the 2nd time we washed it. $60.00 and special Christmas gift down the drain

Run away from ANYTHING Whirlpool in regards to washers. Even if they fixed some of the outside issues on newer models I have zero faith any of the interior issues were taken care of.

    Go LG or Kenmore IMO

- Appliance Repair in Los Angeles - If you live in LA, you know that finding a reputable appliance repair company is a daunting task. Luckily, your neighbors have done all the leg work for you.

- AffreshAffresh What, your trendy new front load washer doesn't smell like roses? Mold, you say? That stinks. My fashionably pewter (almost went for blood red) front load smells just fine, thanks to keeping the door open and to Affresh!

- Willow Springs Track day - Our friends at Motoyard.com are having another track day. If you're in to motorcycle racing, be sure to check it out. Next track day is coming up in August at Willow Springs.
