Replacing the Whirlpool dryer belt and idler pulley is a lot easier than you might think. They both play a huge role but aren’t very difficult to work with.

This is how they work:

• The idler pulley which is located below the drum, brings tension to the belt. The idler pulley is also aligned with the motor pulley. The belt fits all the way around the drum, under the idler pulley and around the motor pulley. When the motor pulley moves the belt, the drum turns and causes the clothes to tumble.
